From 26 February – 2 March 20178, Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) will carry out an inspection of London Borough of Havering local area.
The areas the teams will focus on are:
- How well the local area identifies and assesses the needs of children and young people who have special educational needs and/or disabilities
- How well it meets the needs of these children and young people so that their outcomes and chances of participating fully in society improve.
The inspection will also include an online webinar to allow parents and carers in the London Borough of Havering area to contribute. The Inspector, who will ask parents and carers about their views and experiences on how effectively the London Borough of Havering local area is fulfilling the above responsibilities.
While they understand that many parents and carers may have views on their experience that extend before the implementation of the reforms in September 2014, it is important that this date is used as the start for gathering evidence about the impact of the reforms as part of the new inspections.
The Inspectors will not be able to follow up or comment upon individual cases.
The webinar will take place this Friday 23rd February at 10am and here’s what you need to do:
Register any time before Friday by clicking on this link http://bit.ly/HaveringLASEND – it takes no more than 2 minutes
Once you have registered you will receive a confirmation email.
Around 9:50am on Friday we suggest you grab a cuppa click the ‘Join Webinar’ box at the bottom of the email and wait for it to start. We also recommend you test your volume although you can probably still take part without it.
When the Webinar starts the inspector will ask you questions and you either choose from a selection or you may have to type in your answer. They will explain what you need to do.
They cannot see or hear you and they don’t know who you are.
The webinar will last for around a hour.
We cannot tell you enough how important it is for you to join this webinar – this is your only chance to tell the Inspectors how effective you think Havering as an area (council, health, schools, colleges etc) are.
Please tell every parent who has a child with SEN and disabilities to get involved especially those in mainstream schools who may not hear about it otherwise.
